The Skindex has been created as a patient guide and educational reference for anyone considering aesthetic injections and facial rejuvenation.

About: Plump, rounded cheeks project a fresh, youthful appearance.

Why / How the area ages: The cheek area is one of the first indicators of ageing. The primary factor of midface ageing is deflation and descent of the deep and superficial fat pads, resulting in a loss of cheek projection, undereye support and deepening of nasolabial folds and marionette lines. The means that total midface volume in the ages of 30 to 60 is 5.6ml (Boehm LM, Morgan A, Hettinger P, Matloub HS, 2021). Another factor in midface ageing is skeletal changes in bone density and structure of the face. Extrinsic factors such as UV exposure and smoking contribute to collagen degradation; resulting in wrinkles and folds in the cheeks.

How it can be treated: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler to replenish volume loss, resulting in a lifted look. Lines and folds are diminished and under eye area is supported. Skin texture improves due to the hydrating effects of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler.

Single Price: From £375 Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler. From £325 Skin Boosters.

Combination Treatments: Dermal fillers work well with treatments that improve skin health and quality such as Skin Boosters and technology treatments such as Ultherapy and Tixel, plus a prescription for medical-grade skincare.

Contraindications: Known allergy/hypersensivity to the material or to lidocaine, Pregnancy and breastfeeding, skin conditions near the site of injections such as infection/eczema/psoriasis/active acne and compromised immunity.

About: Having a defined jawline and well proportioned chin are important to facial harmony and balance.

Why / How the area ages: Changes around the chin and jawline become more noticeable around the age of 40. As the skin becomes less resilient there are slow yet progressive processes occurring such as bone recession and redistribution of the soft tissue which lead to changes in chin projection and jawline, and this decreases the height of the chin. The results are a less defined jawline, ‘jowls’ and a ‘orange peel’ look to the chin. However, the chin can be improved in younger patients with a recessive chin which can contribute to premature jowling and less defined jawline

How it can be treated: 1. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler to create structure, improve projection and width depending on individual needs (chin). This helps to create more balance and harmony with the rest of the face and a more defined jawline. 2. Muscle relaxing injections to soften the chin area and decrease the orange peel formation.

Single Price: From £375 Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler

Combination Treatments: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler plus technology treatments such as Ultherapy.

Contraindications: Known allergy/hypersensivity to the material or to lidocaine, Pregnancy and breastfeeding, skin conditions near the site of injections such as infection/eczema/psoriasis/active acne and compromised immunity.

About: Crow's feet are lines and wrinkles at the sides of the eyes which can extend up towards the temples and down the cheek area.

Why / How the area ages: Crow's feet deepen with age and due to external factors such as UV exposure and smoking.

How it can be treated: 1. Anti-wrinkle injections. 2. Skin Boosters such as Profhilo, Redensity 1 and Polynucleotides to hydrate and plump the area. 3. Dermal filler maybe considered to support the mid face and soften the lines if crows feet extend down the cheek area. 4. Tixel (thermo mechanical treatment) to decrease depth off the lines; improving texture and regenerating collagen.

Single Price: From £180 Anti-wrinkle injections. From £325 Skin Boosters. From £350 Polynucleotides. 3. From £250 Tixel.

Combination Treatments: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler, Anti-wrinkle injections and Tixel for tightening of the eyelids and Ultherapy to lift the brows and regenerate collagen.

Contraindications: Known allergy/hypersensivity to the material or to lidocaine; Pregnancy and breast feeding, skin conditions near the site of injections such as infection/eczema/psoriasis/active acne; compromised immunity;

About: Facial expressions such as repeated eyebrow raising and frowning can result in the formation of lines and wrinkles on the forehead.

Why / How the area ages: Lines on the forehead and between the brows appear as a result of repeated muscle movement. Also, thinning of the skin due to gradual collagen and elastin degradation, and a decrease in fat tissue. Lifestyle factors such as sun exposure and genetic factors also play role in formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

How it can be treated: 1. Wrinkle smoothing injections are effective in smoothing out the lines and wrinkles and preventing them from increasing. 2. Polynucleotides help to stimulate collagen production and smooth out lines. 3. Tixel to improve texture and increase collagen and elastin production.

Single Price: From £180 Wrinkle smoothing. From £350 Polynucleotides. From £300 Tixel.

Combination Treatments: 1. Wrinkle smoothing injections. 2 Polynucleotides. 3.Tixel.

Contraindications: Neuromuscular disorders, allergy/hypersensivity to the material, body dysmorphic disorder, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

About: Lips are an important anatomical facial feature as they are the first thing we gaze at when we speak to someone. Full, plump, smooth lips project an overall look of youthfullness.

Why / How the area ages: Lips are one of the first areas that show sings of ageing. Due to a loss of collagen, fat, muscle and gum recession, the lips become thinner, more lined and less smooth. As a result of lip ageing, we observe a gradual loss of fullness and projection. A reduction of the vermillion border, the flattening of the cupids bow and philtrum colums - as well as inversion of the lips.

How it can be treated: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler in various viscosities are used to correct the shape of the lips, replace volume, hydrate and smooth out lines.

Single Price: From £395 Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler. From £300 Tixel.

Combination Treatments: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler and Tixel.

Contraindications: Known allergy/hypersensivity to the material or to lidocaine, pregnancy and breastfeeding, skin conditions near the site of injections such as cold sore/infection/eczema/psoriasis/active acne and compromised immunity. Patients who suffer from frequent herpes simplex (cold sores) may require a prophylatic course of Aciclovir prior to treatment.

About: Visible skin laxity and wrinkles of the neck become noticeable from around the age of 40.

Why / How the area ages: Delicate and thin skin of the neck loses its elasticity faster than the face. Factors such as collagen and elastin degradation, fat atrophy and redistribution, sun exposure and the pull of gravity contribute to crepey skin. Underlying platysmal muscles begin to weaken and show as vertical lines through thinning skin.

How it can be treated: 1. Deep targeted skin tightening with Ultherapy. 2. Tixel to increase collagen production and improve crepey texture of the neck. 3. Skin Boosters to hydrate and plump the skin. 4. Muscle relaxing injections to smooth out the platysmal muscles and lines. 5. Dermal filler for deep neck rings.

Single Price: From £1500 Ultherapy. From £350 Nefertiti Lift / muscle relaxing. From £300 Tixel. From £350 Skin Boosters.

Combination Treatments: Many combinations can be used; Ultherapy and Skin Boosters, muscle relaxing and Skin Boosters. Tixel and Skin Boosters, plus muscle relaxing.

Contraindications: Known allergy/hypersensivity to the material or to lidocaine; Pregnancy and breast feeding, skin conditions near the site of injections such as infection/eczema/psoriasis/active acne; compromised immunity.

About: Lines, creases or folds can run vertically from the corners of the mouth to the chin. They can be mild, moderate to severe.

Why / How the area ages: Marionette lines are a natural part of ageing and occur due to gravity, fat loss and degradation of collagen. It is impossible to hide them completely, however they can be visibly reduced. It is a complex anatomical structure and often requires treatment of the mid face and corners of the mouth/chin area for best and lasting results.

How it can be treated: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler used to decrease the depth of the lines and folds.

Single Price: From £395 Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler. From £1300 Ultherapy.

Combination Treatments: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler and skin tightening treatment such as Ultherapy.

Contraindications: Known allergy/hypersensivity to the material or to lidocaine, Pregnancy and breastfeeding, skin conditions near the site of injections such as infection/eczema/psoriasis/active acne and compromised immunity.

About: Skin laxity is an inevitable sign of ageing. It happens as our skin loses its plumpness and elasticity.

Why / How the area ages: As we age, collagen and elastin production slowly decreases and skin cell metabolism is slower; resulting in crepey and lax skin. Other factors such as genetics, weight loss and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome also play role. Extrinisic ageing - which includes UV exposure, poor diet and smoking are also contributing causes of collagen degradation; enhancing the loss of plumpness of the skin. There are treatments to help to boost collagen and elastin regenaration and slow down this process.

How it can be treated: 1. Skin Boosters help to hydrate, boost collagen and plump up the skin. 2. Tixel (which is a mechanical thermo-ablation) helps to improve texture, regenerate collagen and elastin production and smooths out lines. 3. Ultherapy - an ultrasound treatment targeting deep layers of the skin to kickstart a deep regenerative collagen boosting process. 4. Anti-wrinkle injections to smooth out the neck and to relax strong platysmal bands.

Single Price: From £350 Skin Boosters including Polynucleotides. From £300 Tixel. From £1300 Ultherapy. From £250 Wrinkle smoothing injections.

Combination Treatments: 1. Skin Boosters such as Profhilo, Redensity 1, Polynucleotides. 2. Tixel treatment. 3. Ultherapy. 4. Wrinkle relaxing treatment.

Contraindications: Known allergy/hypersensivity to the material or to lidocaine, Pregnancy and breastfeeding, skin conditions near the site of injections such as infection/eczema/psoriasis/active acne and compromised immunity.

About: The temples are areas which link the upper and mid face. It is an important anatomical structure that can lead to outer brow sagging and it is often overlooked by patients.

Why / How the area ages: The temple area becomes hollow due to a decrease in soft tissue, fat and bone density. It becomes more apparent in lean patients and those over 40 years old. Hollowing of temples causes less structural support and can results in a sunken look.

How it can be treated: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler is injected using a cannula.

Single Price: £395

Combination Treatments:  Not applicable

Contraindications: Known allergy/hypersensivity to the material or to lidocaine, Pregnancy and breastfeeding, skin conditions near the site of injections such as infection/eczema/psoriasis/active acne and compromised immunity.

About: The eye area is delicate and the skin is thin. The area is prone to showing early signs of fatigue and can project and overall tiredness.

Why / How the area ages: Due to repeated facial expressions, gravity and gradual loss of collagen and elastin, fine lines and wrinkles begin to appear. The undereye fat pad descends and becomes more prominent which further contributes to skin laxity, lines, wrinkles and volume loss in the area; resulting in hollowing under the eyes.

How it can be treated: 1. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler with a light consistency and good spreadability designed specifically for tear troughs (Teosyal / Redensity 1) is used to correct tear trough deformity. 2. Polynucleotides are injected to stimulate collagen regeneration, improve skin texture and to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and to decrease lower eyelid puffiness.

Single Price: From £395 Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler. From £350 Polynucleotides.

Combination Treatments: A combination of tear trough and cheek filler may be required prior for best results. This will be discussed during a consultation.

Contraindications: Known allergy/hypersensivity to the material or to lidocaine, Pregnancy and breastfeeding, skin conditions near the site of injections such as infection/eczema/psoriasis/active acne and compromised immunitysame as above. Patients with dimished lymphatic transport capacity, patients who require surgery and patients with history of malar oedema.

About: Lipstick and verticle (or barcode) lines often appear due to repeated movement over time and as a result of volume loss in the lips.

Why / How the area ages: Lips are of the first areas that show sings of ageing.

How it can be treated: 1. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler based filler of fine consistency is used to decrease the depth of the lines and wrinkles. In order to achieve best results, a small amount of filler may be placed in the lip. 2. Skin Boosters are used to hydrate and boost collagen in the upper lip. 3. Tixel which is an ablative, fractional heat device is used to strenghten collagen production in the area and decrease the depth of the lines.

Single Price: From £395 Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler. From £350 Skin Boosters. From £300 Tixel.

Combination Treatments: Combination of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler, Skin Boosters and Tixel.

Contraindications: Known allergy/hypersensivity to the material or to lidocaine, Pregnancy and breastfeeding, skin conditions near the site of injections such as infection/eczema/psoriasis/active acne and compromised immunity.
